Evolution is a process in which something passes by degrees to a different stage. This is how it is in the natural world and this is how it is in the world of rock and roll. There are clear evolutionary paths which most bands follow to reach their musical ends but occasionally, very occasionally, along come a group of musicians that throw a spanner in the works of evolution and create their own path. The latest bands to do that are Dublin's own The Brothers Movement.

THE BROTHERS MOVEMENT sound is a unique blend of thumping rhythms, mesmerised keyboards, jangling guitars and vocal harmony's that don't so much ignore the normal rock and roll evolutionary path as smash it out of the way as they bowl headlong towards their own evolution revolution. It’s a revolution that the music world is beginning to sit up and take notice of.

The band comprises the three Paxton brothers, Neil (guitar and lead vocals), Danda (guitar and vocals), Conor (bass) and friends Derick O’Neill (keyboards), Scott Glennon (Lead guitar) and new drummer Andy Parkes. Danda is responsible for writing the bands material but says that everyone has an input into achieving the final sound. It's a process that he says works well for The Brothers Movement and helps to maintain the unique quality of their recordings and enhances their live sound. "We don't have any big egos in The Brothers Movement. If one of the band has a good idea then we will incorporate it into our performances. It gives a greater flexibility in our sound that a lot of other rock and roll bands may struggle to find."

The Brothers Movement have recently returned from a month in Philadelphia where they recorded their new album, which is as yet unnamed. Lead singer Neil said it was a real buzz recording in a city with such a unique musical history. He added: "It was great to work with the Cobb’s and all of us were really pleased with the resulting sound and production. We are now busily planning the release of the album and have been showcasing our new material at recent gigs." Those gigs have included dates with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club in the US and Ireland as well as a trip to the Legendary Roundhouse in London to support the Jesus and Mary Chain." The Roundhouse gig was a particular thrill for The Brothers Movement says Danda: "It was brilliant to be able to play on the same stage as rock and roll legends like The Doors and Jimi Hendrix and we are just looking forward to more of the same in the future."

The new album really highlights the talent and versatility of The Brothers Movement whilst also being hugely entertaining
